contact@readcast.ccGetting Started
Open the Library tab and tap the + button in the top-right corner. You can import:
- PDF — from Files, iCloud Drive, or any app that supports Share Sheet.
- EPUB — tap "Open with ReadCast" from any EPUB file.
- TXT — plain text files imported the same way.
Once imported your book appears in your library immediately.
An account is required to use the AI narration (Listen) feature and to sync your library across devices. You can sign up with your email address, Apple ID, or Google account.
Reading imported books locally does not require an active internet connection once the book is imported.
ReadCast supports PDF, EPUB, and TXT files. Most books you already own — purchased from online stores, downloaded, or shared — will work directly without conversion.
ReadCast is currently available on the Apple App Store (iOS 16+). An Android version is on the roadmap — your library will sync automatically between devices once it launches.
Listening & Audio
Open any book in your library. At the top of the reader you'll see a Read / Listen toggle. Tap Listen, then press the play button to start narration from the current page.
ReadCast includes five Signature voices — our premium AI narration:
- Eve — Woman, energetic and upbeat
- Ara — Woman, warm and friendly
- Rex — Man, confident and clear
- Sal — Man, smooth and balanced
- Leo — Man, authoritative and strong
Switch voices at any time in the Voices tab or from Settings.
Yes. Tap the 1x button in the reader to cycle through speeds: 0.5×, 0.75×, 1×, 1.25×, 1.5×, and 2×. Your preferred speed is saved automatically.
This is usually caused by a network interruption. Try these steps:
- Check your internet connection — narration requires an active connection.
- Tap the play button to resume. ReadCast will restart from the current page.
- If the issue persists, close and reopen the app, then try again.
If you continue experiencing audio issues, please contact us at contact@readcast.cc with your device model and iOS/Android version.
Yes. ReadCast supports full lock-screen playback controls, Control Center integration, and Dynamic Island (on supported iPhones). It also works with AirPods, Bluetooth speakers, and CarPlay.
ReadCast supports narration in 20 languages. You can set a specific language in Settings → Narration Language, or use Auto-detect to let the app detect the language of your book automatically.
Library & Sync
It depends on the format:
- EPUB and TXT — extracted text and covers are synced to the cloud so you can read on any device.
- PDF — PDF files remain on your device only and are never uploaded, for copyright protection. To read a PDF on another device, import it again on that device.
Reading progress (current page) syncs for all formats.
In the Library tab, swipe left on any book and tap Delete. This removes the book from your library and, for EPUB/TXT books, from cloud sync as well.
Make sure you're signed in with the same account on both devices. Then:
- Pull down to refresh the Library tab.
- Check your internet connection on both devices.
- For PDFs: sync is not supported — import the file again on the other device.
If the issue continues, contact us at contact@readcast.cc.
Subscriptions & Billing
AI narration is powered by an external API that charges per character. To keep ReadCast sustainable, each plan has a monthly character quota:
- Pro — 1,000,000 characters/month (about 2 average-length books)
- Premium — 2,000,000 characters/month (about 5 average-length books)
- Unlimited — no monthly limit
The counter resets on the first day of each calendar month.
Subscriptions are managed by the App Store, not by ReadCast directly.
- iPhone / iPad: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → ReadCast → Cancel.
You will retain access to your plan until the end of the current billing period.
First, try restoring purchases: go to Settings → Restore Purchases in the app. If the issue persists, email us at contact@readcast.cc with your order confirmation and we'll resolve it promptly.
All purchases are processed by Apple or Google and subject to their refund policies. You can request a refund directly:
- Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com
Account & Privacy
You can delete your account in two ways:
- In the app: Settings → Delete Account. This immediately removes all your data.
- By email: send a request to contact@readcast.cc and we'll process it within 30 days.
Deleting your account permanently removes your library, reading progress, and all synced data. This action cannot be undone.
Go to Settings → Account in the app to update your email or password. If you signed in with Apple or Google, your account is managed by those services and email/password changes are not applicable.
If you've forgotten your password, use the Forgot Password link on the login screen to receive a reset email.
We collect your account information, library metadata, and reading progress. When you use the Listen feature, the current page text is sent to our AI narration provider (xAI) in real time — we do not store this text ourselves.
We do not collect location data, browsing history, or any advertising identifiers. PDF files never leave your device.
For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
